The undercard for the long awaited Beterbiev vs Smith bout in January 2024 has now been confirmed. Callum Smith had been due to challenge the Unified Light Heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev on 19 August 2023, but the fight was postponed due to a bone infection to Beterbiev.
The fight has now been moved to 13 January 2024 at the Centre Videotron in Quebec Canada, and promoters Top Rank has announced their undercard including an additional world title bout.
Jason Moloney vs Saul Sanchez is the chief support bout for the evening, and sees Australian Moloney defend his crown for the first time since defeating Astrolabio in May 2023. His opponent is the American Saul Sanchez, who is stepping up to championship rounds for the first time having never boxed 12 rounds. He holds a 20-2 record, against Moloney’s 26-2.
Unbeaten Christian Mbilli is competing for the WBC Continental Americas title in a 10 rounder, and there’s 7 different unbeaten home fighters in action hoping to keep their records in tact.
