Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov Preview and Undercard

A mega boxing card is set for LA as 4 promoters team up with Riyadh Season to produce one of the biggest cards of 2024. 6 major bouts have been announced for the show including 5 variations of the World title being contested. Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov serves as the headliner for the show.

Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov

Terence Crawford (40-0) moves up in weight having achieved Undisputed status at Welterweight. Crawford fought and defeat Errol Spence Jr last time out, adding 3 major championships to his long-held WBO title. Crawford is already a 3-weight world champion, winning titles at Lightweight, Super Lightweight and Welterweight, and is aiming to become a 4-weight champion.

Israil Madrimov (10-0-1) captured the WBA World Super Welterweight time last time out in Riyadh. Madrimov stopped Magomed Kurbanov to win the vacant title on the Joshua vs Ngannou undercard. The Uzbek fighter takes a big step up in competition and enters as an outsider.

Rest of the Card

David Morrell vs Radivoje Kalajdzic will compete for the vacant WBA World Light Heavyweight title. Cuban David Morrell (10-0) has already held the WBA Super Middleweight title, and moves up in weight for this contest. Morrell faces Serbian boxer Radivoje Kalajdzic (29-2), who has only lost to Artur Beterbiev and Lucas Browne. Kalajdzsic is unbeaten since 2019.

Tim Tszyu vs Vergil Ortiz Jr. will now fight for the WBA Interim championship, which shortly followed the announcement of the card. Tim Tszyu (24-1) looks to bounce back from his shock World title defeat to Sebastian Fundora against currently unbeaten Vergil Ortiz Jr (20-0). Ortiz Jr has a fight night on 27 April to deal with first as he faces Thomas Dulorme. Ortiz needs to win to face Tim Tszyu in August.

WBA champion Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (26-2-1) defends his newly won crown. Isaac Cruz vs Jose Valenzuela will be for the WBA Super Lightweight title. Cruz captured the belt when he stopped Rolly Romero on the first PBC show on Amazon earlier in the year. Mexican Jose Valenzuela (13-2) challenges for the belt coming off a KO victory over Chris Colbert, avenging his loss earlier in 2023.

Unbeaten Cuban sensation Andy Cruz (3-0) defends his IBF International title once again. Experienced Mexican Antonio Moran (30-6-1) will challenge Cruz. Moran has losses against Jamaine Ortiz, Arnold Barboza Jr and Devin Haney on his record.

Andy Ruiz vs Jarrell Miller is included as a Heavyweight bout on the card. The former Unified Heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz (35-2) will return to action on the card. Ruiz has been inactive since losing his championships in a rematch to Anthony Joshua. Since the loss in 2019, Ruiz has fought just twice. He picked up a wide Unanimous Decision over Chris Arreola, although he suffered a knockdown in the process. Ruiz then beat Luis Ortiz over 12 rounds back in September 2022, his last action of the decade.

Ruiz will face disgraced American Heavyweight Jarrell Miller (25-1-1). Miller has served two different doping bans, but returned to the ring once again and challenged Daniel Dubois in Saudi Arabia. Miller lost the bout via TKO in the final few seconds as his gas tank emptied.
