Ohara Davies vs Ismael Barroso removed from Golden Boy card

Ohara Davies vs Ismael Barroso has been removed from Golden Boy Promotions upcoming card this Saturday due to visa issues with Ohara Davies. The card is being headlined by Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte, and the bout between Davies and Barroso was intended to fill the chief support role in the undercard.

Oscar De La Hoya broke the news via Twitter/X to state the following:

“Due to Visa delays, the fight between Ohara Davies and Ismael Barroso scheduled for this Saturday, December 2 will be postponed to a later date. More information will be made available in the coming weeks.”

@KidAustin11 will now be the co main event on the stacked card Dec.2

The bout between Davies and Barroso was being contested for the interim WBA Interim World Super Lightweight championship, with the winner getting a shot at the current WBA champion Rolly Romero.

The incident marks a frustrating year for Ohara Davies. Davies has only fought once this year when he defeated Lewis Ritson back in March 2023 in a WBA eliminator, which was supposed to grant Davies a shot against the champion.

Injuries to Rolly Romero delayed the match between him and Davies, and the WBA opted to order a bout in the interim. The WBA chose the number one contender Ohara Davies, and Ismael Barroso, the opponent Rolly Romero controversially defeated for his title, to compete for the interim title. The winner will eventually go on to face the champion.
