What has changed with The Ring of Fire Card?

Tyson Fury is set to meet Oleksandr Usyk in a rescheduled bout on 18 May 2024. The Ring of Fire card was initially set for 17 February until Fury withdrew following a cut in sparring. We will take a look at the changes from the original card and see who has been added and which bouts have been removed.

The Ring of Fire card 17 February 2024

The original Ring of Fire card included 8 different fights. The majority of the bouts remain from the initial card which features two World championship contests. Jai Opetaia fights to win back his Cruiserweight championship against former champion Mairis Breidis. Welshman Joe Cordina also defends his IBF Super Featherweight crown against Anthony Cacace.

Further down the bill, Tyson Fury’s own training partner Isaac Lowe competes against Hasibullah Ahmadi. Sergey Kovalev vs Robin Sirwan is also included.

The original Ring of Fire card also included unbeaten teenage Heavyweight Moses Itauma, Bakodir Jalolov and David Nyika. Opponents were not named for the fighters as the show was postponed before the announcements were made.

What has been added to the Ring of Fire Card?

The Ring of Fire card 18 May 2024

Mark Chamberlain vs Joshua Wahab has been added to the show. Mark Chamberlain (15-0) defeated Gavin Gwynne in a dominant display on the Knockout Chaos undercard in March, securing a TKO in round 4. Chamberlain clearly did enough to warrant another appearance in Saudi Arabia. He faces Joshua Wahab (23-1) in a 10 round contest.

Agit Kabayel vs Frank Sanchez has also been added to Ring of Fire. Both fighters have wins in Saudi Arabia in impressive fashion. Cuban Frank Sanchez (24-0) secured a TKO victory over Junior Fa at Day of Reckoning prior to Christmas. German Agit Kabayel (24-0) dismantled unbeaten Russian heavyweight Arslanbek Makhmudov also at Day of Reckoning despite being a big outsider. Kabayel used his feet and wore Makmudov down as he secured his biggest career victory.

Moses Itauma (8-0) has now received an opponent. The 19-year old British Heavyweight will defend his unbeaten record against Ilja Mezencev (24-3). Itauma has already secured a 1st round TKO over Dan Garber earlier this year and has an English title bout ready for when he reaches his 20th birthday, the minimum age to fight 10 rounds in the UK. Mezencev will be Itauma’s toughest test having only been stopped by Tom Schwarz, twice. Itauma and Mezencev fight over 8 rounds.

Australian Cruiserweight David Nyika (8-0) will face unbeaten Michael Seitz (12-0). Nyika picked up three stoppage victories in 2023 and recorded his biggest career win over Robert Berridge in Australia last November. German Seitz holds the IBO European Cruiserweight title which he won in a tight contest over Steve Eloundou Ntere in October.

What has been removed from the Ring of Fire Card?

Uzbekistan Heavyweight Bakhodir Jalolov (14-0) was included on the original show, but has been removed from the rescheduled card. Jalolov currently has no new fight date.
