Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk Rescheduled for May

The long awaited Undisputed Heavyweight championship bout between Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk has been moved to May following Tyson Fury’s injury. Fury suffered a cut just 15 days before the mega fight which resulted in the Ring of Fire event being postponed.

Turki Alal Shikh confirmed the news when speaking on the MMA Hour to Ariel Helwani. The rescheduled date for Fury vs Usyk and the Ring of Fire event is now 18 May 2024. The contest will still take place in Saudi Arabia, but outside of the Riyadh Season, which hosted 3 separate boxing events.

An additional stipulation has been attached to the Undisputed title contest. If either Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk withdraw from the bout, they will pay a forfeit of $10 million. The remaining fighter will be given a new opponent for the 18 May date.

Turki Alal Shikh also confirmed 18 May 2024 is the latest and final date for the bout. The Fury vs Usyk match cannot be delayed any further due to the IBF enforcing Filip Hrgovic’s right to challenge Oleksandr Usyk. So Tyson Fury appears to fighting regardless of whether his cut has fully healed.

Turki Alal Shikh also promised one further significant addition to the card, but did not
confirm any names at this time.
