Ring of Fire Tyson Fury to begin training at the end of March

WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury attended the press conference for the upcoming Knockout Chaos show in Saudi Arabia this Friday. Ring of Fire Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk is set for 18 May 2024 and Fury has revealed when he plans to return to training.

Tyson Fury attended Knockout Chaos in support of his brother Roman Fury, who competes on the undercard. The Gypsy King then spoke to Ariel Helwani and Ade Oladipo about his upcoming bout against Oleksandr Usyk. The Ring of Fire event was set for February until the bout was postponed after Fury suffered a cut in sparring. Ring of Fire Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk now takes place 3 months later in May.

Ring of Fire Tyson Fury injury

Tyson Fury confirmed he intends to start sparring towards the end of March. Ariel Helwani noted that Fury wasn’t sporting much visible eye damage, which is good news as there had been some fears the cut would not heal before Ring of Fire. Fury stated he intends to fight whether the cut heals or not, and hopes an Undisputed Heavyweight title fight would not be stopped because of a cut.

Tyson Fury also confirmed he will fight Oleksandr Usyk twice this year. The rematch clause between Fury and Usyk had been mooted, but Turki Al-Shekih, the figure behind Knockout Chaos and Ring of Fire, had stated the winner of Joshua vs Ngannou would face the winner of Fury vs Usyk. It now seems the winner will have to wait for their shot if Fury and Usyk have agreed to a rematch.

Francis Ngannou also has MMA obligations with the PFL, making an immediate bout even more unlikely, should he win against Joshua this Friday.
