Peter McGrail vs Marc Leach the new Matchroom NXTGEN Headliner

Matchroom Boxing announced another change to their NXTGEN Liverpool show. The headline rematch between Ja Rico O’Quinn vs Peter McGrail has been cancelled for a second time. Peter McGrail vs Marc Leach is named as replacement bout.

Matchroom Boxing have confirmed that Ja’Rico O’Quinn has pulled out of his rematch against Peter McGrail. O’Quinn withdrew from the contest due to “personal family matters”. O’Quinn picked up a shock KO victory over Peter McGrail in 2023 on the undercard of Rodriguez vs Edwards in America.

The NXTGEN show in Liverpool has already been cancelled once. Matchroom opted to cancel the event and move O’Quinn vs McGrail onto the undercard of Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall. Taylor then suffered an injury that moved the event from 27 April 2024 to 25th May 2024. Matchroom then opted to reinstate the initial NXTGEN Liverpool show.

Peter McGrail will now face Marc Leach (18-3-1) in the main event. Leach is coming off consecutive defeats to Masoud Abdulah and Liam Davies, with the latter bout costing him his British Super Bantamweight title. His last victory came over two years ago when he defeated Chris Bourke to win the British title.
