Boxing returns to Liverpool with a rematch between Peter McGrail vs Marc Leach headlining a NXTGEN card from Matchroom Boxing. Ja’Rico O’Quinn vs Peter McGrail was originally set to headline until O’Quinn withdrew.

Matchroom’s NXTGEN shows feature some of their younger prospects and the promotion have held NXTGEN shows in Liverpool several times. The Matchroom NXTGEN Liverpool show in 2024 features an opportunity hometown fighter Peter McGrail to avenge the first loss of his career.
McGrail vs O’Quinn was held on the undercard of Bam Rodriguez vs Sunny Edwards, which featured multiple British fighters competing in America for the first time. It also included Peter’s younger brother Joe McGrail, who scored an impressive KO victory on the same card.
Peter McGrail dominated the entire bout against O’Quinn the first time around. McGrail knocked Ja’Rico O’Quinn down twice in rounds 2 and 4. He closed in for a KO victory in round 5 but came completely unstuck. Ja’Rico O’Quinn knocked out Peter McGrail with a single stunning shot, leaving his opponent firmly on the canvas. This inflicted the first and only defeat of McGrail’s career.
We awarded Ja’Rico ‘O’Quinn with KO of the year in 2023 after his first bout with Peter McGrail.

Matchroom Boxing’s NXTGEN show in Liverpool was cancelled. There had been no other bouts named for the show, and the main event of Ja’Rico O’Quinn vs Peter McGrail moved to the Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall card held in Leeds on the same day.
Josh Taylor then suffered an injury forcing Taylor vs Catterall 2 to be delayed and Matchroom Boxing moved to re-instate their original plans for 27 April 2024.
Ja’Rico O’Quinn then withdrew from the contest and was replaced by Marc Leach. You can read more on the change of headliner here

The card is set for 27 April 2024. The card was initially cancelled and the bout moved to the undercard of Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall. Taylor suffered an injury resulting in the postponement, so the original card was re-instated in Liverpool.
