Ohara Davies vs Ismael Barroso has been announced for Golden Boy Promotions show on 06 January 2024. The bout will feature as the chief supporting contest to Ortiz Jr vs Lawson, with the card taking place in Las Vegas Nevada.
Ohara Davies vs Ismael Barroso was originally intended for the undercard of Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte on 02 December 2023.
The bout was scuppered as Ohara Davies had issues obtaining a visa, and it has now been rescheduled for Golden Boy Promotions first card of 2024.
The stakes are high for Davies vs Barroso as the winner will become WBA interim Super Lightweight champion, with the opportunity to face Rolly Romero for the full title or the possibility of being elevated if Rolly vacates his title.
Ismael Barroso is getting an opportunity to earn another title shot, having controversially been stopped by Rolly Romero. Ohara Davies is attempting to get his first ever world title shot, having already been mandated it by the WBA.
As well as Ohara Davies vs Ismael Barroso, the undercard for the event will also feature Arnold Barboza Jr competed for the first time under the Golden Boy Banner. Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who previously fought Jaime Munguia in a fight of the year contender of 2023, will also compete against an opponent TBA.
