Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal met in 2019 at UFC 244, with Masvidal picking up a TKO victory. Gamebred Masvidal inflicted a cut on Diaz, and the doctors stopped it before the start of round 4. The 5 round contest was uniquely for the BMF (Baddest Mother F*cker) title, now held by Justin Gaethje.
Both Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are MMA veterans who fought inside the UFC octagon for decades. Diaz earnt his way into UFC by winning Ultimate Fighter V and remained active in the UFC for 15 years. His career highlights include both a win and loss to Conor McGregor and victories over Tony Ferguson and Donald Cerrone. Diaz ended his MMA career with a 21-13 record.
Jorge Masvidal has fought longer inside the cage, racking up a 35-17 record. He spent 9 years inside the UFC, but suffered 4 consecutive defeats after defeating Nate Diaz in 2019. Masvidal challenged Kamara Usman twice for the UFC Welterweight Championship, losing first via Unanimous Decision and then a devastating KO.
Nate Diaz (0-1) last competed in a boxing when he fought Jake Paul. Diaz was knocked down in round 1 and performed poorly in the opening half of the 10 round contest. Despite this, he grew into the contest, and did trouble Paul at the end on his way to a Unanimous Decision loss. Diaz competes at Light Heavyweight this time, having moved up to Cruiserweight to face Jake Paul.
Jorge Masvidal (1-0) has a professional win on his record from 2005, beating journeyman Joseph Benjamin over 4 rounds via Majority Decision. Masvidal created Gamebred promotions which included Gamebred Boxing, the promoter of Roy Jones Jr vs Anthony Pettis.
