There are two boxing cards being televised live this week with Beterbiev vs Smith being the main attraction on Saturday night.
Top Rank are airing their Beterbiev vs Smith card on ESPN+ and Sky Sports on Saturday night live from Canada. Earlier in the day, DAZN are airing a small-hall show from Abu Dhabi as part of Rising Stars Arabia featuring regional talent.
Beterbiev vs Smith
The major live boxing this week is undoubtedly Artur Beterbiev vs Callum Smith for the Unified Light Heavyweight title. The IBF, WBO and WBC titles are currently held by Beterbiev.
There’s 3 titles at stake in Beterbiev vs Smith, and a potential unification bout for the fourth title for the victor. Beterbiev vs WBA champion Dimitry Bivol for the Undisputed Light Heavyweight title has allegedly already been agreed in Saudi Arabia.
Callum Smith is the first British boxer to compete for a world title since Lyndon Arthur was unsuccessful last month at Day of Reckoning against Bivol. He enters as an underdog, but has numerous backers including his promoter Eddie Hearn.
There’s also a further World title bout on the undercard, as Jason Moloney vs Saul Sanchez serves as the chief support for the evening. Moloney is defending his WBO World Bantamweight title for the first time.
Also on the undercard is highly ranked and unbeaten Christian Mbilli vs Rohan Murdock. This is the third title bout of the show, with the pair contesting the WBC Continental Americas Super Middleweight title.
The card airs live from Canada on ESPN+ and Sky Sports. Coverage begins at 1:00 a.m Sunday 14 January 2024 on Sky Sports Arena in the UK.
