Lee McGregor vs Isaac Lowe Not Going Ahead

The anticipated British bout between Lee McGregor vs Isaac Lowe is off.

English Isaac Lowe and Scottish Lee McGregor were scheduled to meet in December for a show on Channel 5, but McGregor withdrew with injury a week prior to the card.

Nathan Gorman vs Bodgan Myronets went on to headline the show, with Lowe added to the undercard and facing journeyman opposition at late-notice.

McGregor and Lowe would then face-off after Lowe’s routine victory on the undercard, with the bout expected between the two in early 2024.

Taking to social media on Tuesday 02 January 2024, Lee McGregor posted a message on Instagram, claiming Isaac Lowe had “lost his bottle”, and he would be proceeding on with a new opponent.

Isaac Lowe took to X to respond to Lee McGregor. Lowe confirmed that a bout with McGregor had been cancelled, and that he was under the belief there was no contract following McGregor’s cancellation. Lee Eaton, who manages Lee McGregor, responded by stating there was a clause in the contract in the event of injury.

The quarrel between Lowe and McGregor continued though. McGregor has insinuated that Lowe turned down the bout as he is scheduled to appear on a Saudi Arabian card, which Isaac Lowe later confirmed. Lowe is a training partner of Tyson Fury, who is currently in Saudi Arabia training ahead of the Fury vs Usyk bout in February.

McGregor had no qualms about Lowe appearing on the bill, but questioned why he can’t be named as the opponent.

As of yet, Isaac Lowe hasn’t been added to the Fury vs Usyk bill, which remains without any official undercard. Both McGregor and Lowe are contracted to Wasserman Boxing, and their bout was expected to feature on Channel 5 in the first quarter of 2024.

It now seems likely McGregor will feature for Channel 5, and Lowe will be placed on the Saudi undercard. McGregor vs Lowe may feature later on in the year.
