Josh Taylor Injury delays Catterall rematch

Former Undisputed World champion Josh Taylor has been forced to postpone his planned rematch with Jack Catterall. A Josh Taylor injury has resulted in the bout being delayed as he recovers from an eye injury.

Matchroom Boxing confirmed the news that their planned bout set for 27 April 2024 in Leeds has been cancelled. The show known as Hate Runs Deep has been moved to 25 May 2024, allowing Josh Taylor sufficient time to recover from his injury.

The rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall has already been littered with problems. An earlier agreement between Taylor and Catterall to fight on Sky Sports was scuppered by another Josh Taylor injury. This time the bout has been postponed rather than cancelled.

Matchroom Boxing have also re-instated their original plans for a NXTGEN show. Matchroom’s NXTGEN show in Liverpool had been set for 27 April, but was cancelled to make way for Taylor and Catterall. After the date was moved to May, Matchroom confirmed their original NXTGEN show will now go ahead. Ja’Rico O’Quinn headlines in a rematch against Peter McGrail.
