Jack McGann loses British title opportunity following Greene loss

Jack McGann had been ordered to face Sam Gilley for the vacant British Welterweight championship. McGann appeared on the undercard of Knockout Chaos where he lost to Louis Greene in the first round.

Jack McGann has lost his opportunity to fight for the British Welterweight championship. McGann fought on the undercard of Knockout Chaos but was unsuccessful, losing in the first round to Louis Greene. The first loss of his career has proved damaging, as he has also lost his championship bout.

The British Boxing Board of Control have now withdrawn Jack McGann from the contest. The BBBofC stated that they made the decsion due to McGann losing at championship weight.

Sam Gilley remains in-line to fight for the vacant title. A rematch between Sam Gilley and Louis Greene is on the cards. Gilley won the first contest in October via a wide Unanimous Decision victory, knocking down Greene along the way. Purse bids have been ordered but no agreement has been reached yet.

The winner of Gilley vs Greene 2 will face the winner of Ishmael Davis vs Troy Williamson next week in Sheffield.
