Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke appeared on talkSPORT radio earlier in anticipation of their clash on 31 March 2024. Wardley vs Clarke will headline at the 02 Arena, and it has been confirmed there is a Fabio Wardley rematch clause in place.
During Wardley and Clarke’s appearance on talkSPORT, the topic of rematch clauses came up. Fabio Wardley confirmed he did have a rematch clause in place ahead of his British Heavyweight title defence, but only for a specific circumstance.
Fabio Wardley stated if a cut opens up beneath his chin early in the contest, he will be entitled to trigger a rematch clause. The injury was sustained during the press conference for Wardley vs Adeleye. Wardley was left bleeding and knocked down following a melee caused by Adeleye and his entourage. There is only a Fabio Wardley rematch clause, as he is the defending champion fighting on a voluntary basis.
Wardley went on to defeat David Adeleye in Saudi Arabia to retain his British heavyweight title. The broadcast team on the night noted that Wardley had been unable to spar due to his injury, and it appears the injury remains a concern even now.
