The EBU have confirmed that Liam Davies vs Ionut Baluta is currently in negotiations. The European Boxing Union confirmed the news in their February 2024 newsletter.
Davies and Baluta previously fought back in 2022 with the undefeated Englishman Davies picking up a wide points decision. Baluta has since bounced back with a Split Decision underdog victory over Andrew Cain. He followed that up with a controversial Technical Draw against unbeaten Dennis McCann, and Baluta was unlucky not to pick up the decision.
Liam Davies has picked up stoppage victories over Jason Cunningham and La Femina since beating Baluta. Davies is set to compete for the vacant IBO Super Bamatamweight world title against Erik Robles on the Magnificent Seven show. Davies vs Robles is set for 16 March, so a bout against Baluta is likely set for the Summer or later.
Liam Davies remained undefeated at 15-0, with 7 KO’s. Ionut Baluta holds a 16-4-1 record with 3 KO’s, but he’s upset the applecart again and again.
