Dan Azeez drops to WBA number 4 ranking after defeat

The World Boxing Association have released their updating rankings for February 2024. The rankings see British Light Heavyweight Dan Azeez fall to number 4 following his recent loss to Joshua Buatsi.

Joshua Buatsi remains ranked at number 1 following his victory over Azeez. Buatsi picked up a comprehensive Unanimous Decision to secure a future shot at the WBA Light Heavyweight championship.

Dan Azeez lost his British and European Light Heavyweight titles as well as his unbeaten record to Buatsi. He is yet to name his next fight.

Dan Azeez has dropped two places and is now ranked by the WBA at number 4. Albert Ramirez and Anthony Yarde currently outrank him. Yarde also picked up a victory last month as he rebuilds from defeat to Artur Beterbiev last January.

Craig Richards also features highly in the WBA rankings, ranked at number 6. The British Light Heavyweight returned at Matchroom Boxing’s NXTGEN London show in February. Richards was previously unranked.

Lerrone Richards is the final Brit to be ranked, featuring at number 11. Richards is signed to Wasserman Boxing but hasn’t featured in 2024 so far, and drops from number 10 last month.

Lyndon Arthur has dropped out of the WBA rankings. The former IBO World champion Arthur featured at number 11 in January 2024.
