CONLAN VS GILL : LIVE SATURDAY 02 DECEMBER 2023

On 02 December 2023 live in from the SSE Arena in Belfast Northern Ireland, Michael Conlan (18-2) returns to the ring against Jordan Gill (27-2-1) in the featherweight division.

Michael Conlan is returning to the ring following a brutal fifth round knockout loss to reigning IBF Featherweight Champion Luis Alberto Lopez. Jordan Gill is coming off a TKO loss back in 2022 to Kiko Martinez, where he lost his EBU European Featherweight Championship.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE BUILD-UP TO CONLAN VS GILL?

Michael Conlan announced he had parted ways with his promoters at Top Rank shortly before the announcement of Conlan vs Gill.

WHO IS THE FAVOURITE FOR CONLAN VS GILL ?

Probably Conlan. Although he has suffered two horrific knockdown losses, Conlan is a former Olympian who can compete in and around world level. Comparatively Gill is a European contender, who hasn’t worked his way into the highest echelon. A victory against Conlan will put Gill into the top 15 rankings, but he starts as an outsider. 14 months of inactivity for Gill, compared to Conlan who fought back in May 2023, may also prove a decisive factor.

WHAT DO THE BOOKMAKERS THINK ABOUT CONLAN VS GILL ?

Conlan 1/8
Gill 5/1

WHO ELSE IS FIGHTING ON THE UNDERCARD FOR CONLAN VS GILL ?

Four fights were announced when Matchroom announced Conlan vs Gill.

Tyrone McKenna vs Lewis Crocker
Caoimhin Agyarko vs Troy Williamson
Sean McComb vs Sam Maxwell
Caoimhin Agyarko vs Troy Williamson
Cameron Voung vs TBA
Gerard Hughes vs Ruadhan Farrell
Fearghus Quinn vs TBA
Emmanuel Buttigieg vs TBA

ARE THERE ANY HIGHLIGHTS ON THE UNDERCARD FOR CONLAN VS GILL ?

All 3 of the initially announced bouts on the undercard are good. Lewis Crocker is taking a huge step up against Tyrone McKenna, but he’s 17-0 and won’t be keen to lose his unbeaten record. Agyarko vs Williamson is a great bout. Williamson has only fought once, a gimme fight against a journeyman, since he was humbled by Josh Kelly and defeated for the first time. Williamson is facing unbeaten Agyarko, and he needs to get past him if he wants to regain the momentum he had prior to the Kelly loss.

McComb vs Maxwell should also be good, although Maxwell has lost 2 and 3 and suffered a heavy KO loss to Dalton Smith back in July 2023. McComb only has 1 loss two and a half years ago, and he may have been wiser not entering a bout as the B fighter.
