There were no major cards of significance this week in the UK, or even worldwide. UFC 293 took place over the weekend and this explains the last of action this week. DAZN had two midweek cards taking place in the USA and Abu Dhabi, but neither carried any ramifications to the boxing world.

On Friday 08 September 2023 from Glasgow, Jay McFarlane (14-8) became a two-time BBBofC Scottish Heavyweight champion when he defeated unbeaten Mohammed Saleem (5-0) in the main event. McFarlane was last in a televised bout on the undercard of Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron I, although he was unsuccessful that evening against Thomas Carty.
Scott Melvin (7-1) captured the BBBofC Midlands Area Lightweight championship, defeating unbeaten Mykey Lee Broughton at Planet Ice in Solihull on Saturday 09 September 2023. Michael Mooney (9-95-2) defeated Harley Marginson (0-7) on the undercard for the event, picking up his first win since 2019.

Golden Boy Promotions held a live card on Thursday 07 September 2023 from California USA, shown on DAZN. The card ended in controversy as Raul Curiel (12-0) stopped Courtney Pennington (17-6-2) in the final 7 seconds of the tenth and final round. The referee jumped in with Pennington under absolutely no threat; Curiel threw two basic shots that landed on Curiel, but there was no power, no backwards step from Pennington, and no way this can be considered a legitimate knockout. An outrageous ending that seems designed to allow the former Olympian Curiel to keep up his knockout streak, he’s now 13-0 with 11 KO’s.
On Saturday 09 September 2023, former Sunny Edwards opponent Andres Campos (15-1) bounced back from his defeat, knocking out Bienvenido Ligas (15-2-20) in the 8th round to pick up the IBO Inter-Continental Flyweight belt. Campos main evented the show held in Queensland, Australia, having fought the majority of his career at home until this year.
The only televised card across the weekend came from DAZN, who showcased a card in Abu Dhabi on Saturday 09 September 2023. The card was lacklusture and didn’t have the pazazz of a Saudi card, merely a local show featuring fighters from the region. British boxing pundit Gareth A. Davies, and former pro boxers Spencer Oliver and Barry Jones were all on hand to add some boxing esteem to the show, but it wasn’t the easiest to watch. Bader “The Master” Samreen (9-0) defeated Gonzales (16-3-2) in the 5th round of an event titled Rising Stars Arabia, held in Abu Dhabi, by the Dubai Boxing Commission. Wrap your head around that one.
The final card of note from the weekend tool place in Mexico, Sunday night on 10 September 2023. In the main event featuring female boxers, Kenia Enriquez (26-1) beat Ibeth Silva (33-7) via Unanimous Decision over 10 rounds, retaining the WBC Interim Flyweight title in the process.
