Following the news earlier today that Amanda Serrano has vacated her WBC Featherweight title, the WBC has now ordered interim champion Skye Nicolson vs Sarah Mahfoud, the Silver champion.
Nicolson vs Mahfoud will take place some time in 2024 for the belt Amanda Serrano vacated earlier today.
Amanda Serrano vacated her WBC Featherweight title citing issues with the WBC for failing to back her move to 12×3 minute rounds for women’s boxing. You can read her full statement below:
Amanda Serrano vacating her WBC championship left the interim champion Skye Nicolson in a prime position to be elevated to a ‘full’ champion. This would have left Nicolson in the unenviable position of becoming an ‘e-mail champion’ and not winning her belt in the ring.
However Nicolson took to social media to rubbish those rumours. This was quickly followed by the announcement of Nicolson vs Mahfoud.
Mahfoud is currently scheduled to compete Michela Braga in her home of Denmark on 13 January 2024 as a defence of her Silver title. It is unknown if the bout will still go ahead. Nicolson has no bout currently scheduled.
