Mikaela Mayer post-fight.

Natasha Jonas vs Mikaela Mayer

Natasha Jonas defeated Mikaela Mayer and retained her IBF title via Split Decision over 10, 2 minute rounds. The decision was controversial as Mayer seemed to outpoint the champion in her hometown. Jonas started off strong and took the opening rounds but Mayer was able to outland her opponent and seemed to take control of the fight after that.

Winner via Split Decision Natasha Jonas 96-94, 96-95, 93-97.

Jack Cullen vs Zak Chelli

Zak Chelli defeated Jack Cullen in a rematch to capture the British and Commonwealth championships. The bout wasn’t pretty but Chelli controlled the contest and deserved the win over 12 rounds.

Winner via Unanimous Decision Zak Chelli 116-113, 115-114, 116-112.

Karriss Artingstall Points victory Lila Furtado 77-75.

Show Rating

A bit of a mixed bag from Boxxer’s first fight night. Jonas vs Mayer was a decent contest between two of the leading women in boxing, but the result marred the event. The bout was decent enough but after 10 rounds it felt like Mayer had done enough to secure a win, but fell short via Split Decision. Cullen vs Chelli didn’t really catch fire as many had hoped, and felt like a long 36 minutes of action.

Artingstall vs Furtado proved to be closer than many expected, with Artingstall scoring a knockdown but only winning by 2 rounds. McKenna vs Ellison produced an expected stoppage after Ellison was drafted in at late notice.

Both Jack Massey and Mark Jeffers were relegated to the YouTube portion of the undercard when both bouts could have featured higher.

A decent mixture of bouts with plenty of room for improvement.
⭐️⭐️ 2 stars out of 5.
