MVP release statement following Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke Cancellation

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) have released a statement following the Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke cancellation. Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke was due to headline the promotions Puerto Rico show on Saturday 02 March 2024, but Serrano withdrew from the bout on fight night.

The Unified World Featherweight champion Amanda Serrano last fought in Puerto Rico in 2021 and this was intended to be a homecoming for her. A lot of the build-up to Serrano Meinke had included highlighting community initiatives in Puerto Rico, including the building of multiple gyms and featuring local talent on the card. Puerto Rico was being posited as a growing boxing destination but the Amanda Serrano injury ends a week of goodwill on a sour note.

MVP’s show went ahead as planned, with Jake Paul vs Ryan Bourland featuring as the main event. The card aired live on DAZN and featured also Garbiel Rosado, Wanna Walton and a World championship contest.

Following the conclusion of the Chief Support bout Jake Paul vs Bourland, Amanda Serrano and Nina Meinke took to the ring and an announcement was made that the bout was cancelled.

MVP have now released their official statement on the Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke cancellation.

MVP Amanda Serrano Statement

Amanda Serrano has unfortunately been declared medically unfit by the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission to fight tonight due to an eye injury she sustained yesterday. She is devastated that she won’t be able to perform in front of her hometown fans, but despite wanting to go out and put on a show, the Commission said there is no way she can fight with her eye in its current condition.

The decision equally affects Nina Meinke and MVP will be paying her fight purse in full. MVP and Amanda would like to apologise to everyone in attendance and the company will provide full refunds for all those seeking it. Details to follow on the ticket refund process.

Amanda is proud of the way her fellow MVP teammates have competed tonight, she appreciates the love and support of her fans, and hopes to return to the ring soon.
