Lawal vs Chamberlain announced for York Hall this Saturday

Boxxer announced earlier in the week that their intended show this weekend at the O2 Arena featuring Joshua Buatsi vs Dan Azeez had been postponed. Dan Azeez sustained a back injury that left him unable to compete, and the bout is being postponed until further notice. Boxxer had a further 4 undercard fights planned for the weekend and have decided to create a new show this Saturday, taking place from York Hall.

Boxxer’s new Saturday show sees the same undercard as intended for Buatsi vs Azeez, with Mikael Lawal vs Isaac Chamberlain for the British Cruiserweight title now the main event. Boxxer have been widely credit from members of the boxing community for keeping the show afloat.

Lawal vs Chamberlain now takes place at York Hall, and priority was initially given to ticket-holders to purchase tickets for the event. The tickets were released at 4 p.m with a one-day window given to ticket-holders of Buatsi vs Azeez to purchase new tickets for Lawal vs Chamberlain, however within 5 hours these have already been made available to the general public.

There is also controversy regarding the ticket pricing. Tickets for Buatsi vs Azeez were sold from just £36.35 + fees, and Boxxer went further by offering up to 50% off tickets in the lead-up to the fight for those who had entered a social media competition to win tickets. Now with the main event cancelled, and the card shortened, tickets are available at £56, £84, £112. It is worth noting that Ticketmaster add fees to these amounts, so Boxxer have priced them at £50, £75 and £100. So you could have purchased a Buatsi vs Azeez ticket from as low as £20, but now attending the event, minus the main event, will cost £30 more.

You can check out the Ticketmaster link below for more details on tickets for the event.

Lawal vs Chamberlain takes place on Sky Sports this Saturday. Doors for the event open at 6:30 p.m.
