Jermall Charlo misses Catchweight limit by over 3 pounds

Jermall Charlo has missed his catchweight limit by 3.4 pounds it was reported today. The WBC Middleweight champion Charlo was set to return to activity after not competing since June 2021, but weighed in over the agreed catchweight limit.

Charlo had already been granted special dispensation from the WBC to compete in a ten round non-title bout, and negotiations between his camp and David Benavidez Jr’s camp are taking place to try and reach a new agreement.

Charlo had attempted to weigh-in a second time, with even more unsuccessful results.

The WBC Middleweight crown hasn’t been defended since Jermall Charlo last competed back in June 2021, and fans have been calling for the WBC to step in and strip the champion. The bout between Charlo and Benavidez Jr is still expected to go ahead, but it doesn’t seem likely Charlo will be defending his Middleweight title anytime soon.

Charlo vs Benavidez Jr takes place on the undercard of David Benavidez vs Demetrius Andrade tomorrow night on Showtime PPV.
