Jaime Munguia vs John Ryder has been announced for 27 January 2024. The bout is a co-promotion involving Golden Boy and Matchroom Boxing and will be aired live on DAZN.
The bout is second announced by Golden Boy Promotions in 2024. Golden Boy have already announced the return of Vergil Ortiz Jr. on 06 January, with Ohara Davies vs Ismael Barroso for the WBA Interim Super Lightweight title as the chief support.
Both Munguia and Ryder are coming off the back of good performances.
Jaime Munguia last fought in June 2023, where he narrowly defeated Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Undefeated Munguia entered the last round of the contest behind on the scorecards, and a 12th round knockdown against an exhausted opponent secured a 1 point victory on 2 judges scorecards.
John Ryder last fought against Saul Canelo Alvarez back in May 2023. Ryder was dominated and knocked down by Canelo, but he showed a tremendous amount of grit and willingness to exchange, and lasted the full 12 rounds against the Undisputed Super Middleweight champion.
