BALL VS DOGBOE LIVE ON SATURDAY 18 NOVEMBER 2023

WHO IS BOXING?

On 18 November 2023 live from the AO Arena in Manchester, Nick Ball (18-0) faces Isaac Dogboe (24-3) in an eliminator for the WBC World Featherweight Championship. Ball vs Dogboe tops a card dubbed ‘The Magnificent Seven’, featuring seven title fights in one night.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE BUILD-UP TO BALL VS DOGBOE?

Queensberry Promotions announced the event on 29 September 2023.

WHO IS THE FAVOURITE FOR THE BALL VS DOGBOE?

The bout is a massive step up for undefeated Nick Ball, but he might just be the favourite against seasoned Dogboe. Dogboe was comfortably beaten in April against Robeisy Ramirez, and hasn’t had a clear victory for several years. Prior to his defeat, Dogboe picked up 3 victories by Split and Majority Decisions, and doesn’t appear to have the stoppage power of old. Dogboe has far more experience though and Ball hasn’t competed at Dogboe’s level, so it is an interesting test for Nick Ball.

ARE THERE ANY HIGHLIGHTS ON THE UNDERCARD FOR BALL VS DOGBOE?

Ball vs Dogboe Undercard

You could really pick any of the 6 undercard bouts.

Denzel Bentley vs Nathan Heaney should entertain, and Bentley has the chance to keep the belt if he is successful with a third British title defence. Dalton Smith recently achieved that feat in his weight division back in July.

Essumann vs Scraff should be a decent test for the champion, as he barely defeated Chris Kongo in his last bout back in January. Scraff’s two defeats have come to Anthony Fowler and Troy Williamson, but he’s won his last four and picked up the English Welterweight title since then.

On paper at least, Liam Davies should easily defeat La Femina, who has yet to earn a Boxrec portrait. La Femina is undefeated and enters the champion, but his best win came back in June vs Eloyan (9-4). Liam Davies annihilated Jason Cunningham last time out in the first round, and has gone 12 and with and defeated Romanian Ionut Baluta, a bogeyman for British fighters.

Nathaniel Collins won his last bout in 24 seconds against Raza Hamza (17-1-1). His opponent is unbeaten Zak Miller, but a look into his career doesn’t suggest an even match-up. Miller has defeated journeymen and fighters with negative records, so this will be a massive step up in competition.

Hannah Rankin will enter as the favourite as she attempts to capture a WBC world title, adding to her previous WBA and IBO reigns. Rankin lost her belts to Terri Harper in Nottingham 2022, but picked up a 10 rounds points decision to Logan Holler (9-2-1) earlier in the year. Ema Kozin has only lost to Claressa Shields, as did Hannah Rankin, but hasn’t fought a major bout since the defeat. Kozin picked up the World Boxing Federation World Super Welterweight belt in 2022, and defended it back in June 2023.

Unbeaten Ryan Garner was due to face his biggest test when he challenged Anthony Cacace, but the bout has been scrapped and removed from the card.
