Matchroom Boxing returns to Las Vegas with an IBF Eliminator for the Super Lightweight title with Richardson Hitchins vs Gustavo Daniel Lemos. Diego Pacheco will also defend his WBO and WBC Super Middleweight titles.
Richardson Hitchins vs Gustavo Daniel Lemos is a battle of two unbeaten Super Lightweights. Hitchins was ordered to face Jack Catterall for the IBF mandatory position, but Catterall withdrew as he focuses his attention on a rematch against Josh Taylor. Lemos was named as the new competitor for Hitchins, with other higher ranked fighters Ryan Garcia, Regis Prograis and Josh Taylor not interested in pursuing an Eliminator.
Richardson Hitchins enters the 2024 with two wins from the previous year. Hitchins beat John Bauza and Jose Zepeda via Unanimous Decision, picking up three titles in the process. Hitchins is targeting world title glory and a potential bout with IBF champion Subriel Matias awaits the winner.
Gustavo Daniel Lemos (29-0) is an unbeaten Argentinean boxer boasting 19 KO’s on his record. Lemos hasn’t fought outside of his homeland of Argentina and will enter the fight as an underdog. The former IBF Latino champion picked up a victory over Lee Selby in 2022, but has only competed once since then.
