Pat McCormack has withdrawn from his upcoming headline bout against Peter Dobson set for 11 November 2023. McCormack sustained an injury in training that has forced his withdrawl. Peter Dobson has also been withdrawn from the card with no alternative opponent named for him.
Matchroom Boxing have moved swiftly to replace McCormack, and Shabaz Masoud vs Jose Sanmartin will now headline the Newcastle show. Masoud vs Sanmartin was set for the undercard of Catterall vs Linares on 14 October 2023, but Masoud withdrew on the eve of the contest citing illness. You can read more on that story here.
Masoud has now been elevated to a headliner of the Matchroom NXTGEN, and will be competing for the first time since November 2022. This is also Masoud’s first bout since signing with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
Matchroom have confirmed McCormack vs Dobson is postponed rather than cancelled, and has offered refunds to ticket purchasers. Matchroom have also confirmed the undercard remains the same as before.
