Injured Levi Giles Withdraws from Championship bout

Injured Levi Giles has been forced to withdraw from his planned appearance for Fightzone in April. Giles had been expected to defend his Commonwealth Silver Featherweight championship as part of the televised show.

Grimsby-born Levi Giles (15-1) is coming off a mixed 2023. Giles fought Michael Gomez Jr at the start of the year live on Sky Sports for the English championship. Giles lost a controversial Split Decision, with two judges favouring Gomez’s power over Giles superior boxing skills.

Giles responded with two further victories in 2023. He returned to Grimsby to defeat Ruslan Berchuk via TKO. He went on to headline Fightzone’s Grimsby show in November against Razaq Najib, picking up a victory via Majority Decision.

Levi Giles had been expected to face Jerome Campbell in his first action of 2024, but the bout has now been postponed. The Fightzone show still features 1 title bout and Dave Allen in action.

Promoters Fightzone posted an open letter to the injured Levi Giles, which you can read below:

how disappointing it must be to withdraw from your Commonwealth Silver Super-Featherweight Title defense, especially after all the hard work you’ve put in. We commend your dedication to balancing a full-time job, training like an elite athlete, and managing a family life. These challenges make your commitment to the sport even more admirable.

Rest assured, your health comes first, and we look forward to seeing you back in action as soon as you’re fully recovered. Your determination and resilience are inspiring, and we have no doubt that you’ll come back stronger than ever. Take the time you need to heal, and we’ll be eagerly anticipating your return to the ring.

Warm regards,

FightZone
