Florian Marku vs Chris Kongo set for upcoming Boxxer show

Boxxer have confirmed on social media today that an agreement for Florian Marku vs Chris Kongo has been signed. An agreement between the two boxers has been reached, and the bout will appear on an upcoming Sky Sports card.

Unbeaten Albanian Florian Marku previously argued with Chris Kongo during an interview last year. Marku was doing press in the build-up to his bout with Dylan Moran, and Kongo interrupted the interview. Kongo was respectful during the exchange but Marku became heated very quickly and was annoyed his interview had been interrupted. Marku pushed Kongo out of the way, and the pair had to be separated.

Florian Marku holds a 13-0-1 record, compared with Chris Kongo’s 14-2. Kongo was defeated last time he fought via Majority Decision against Ekow Essuman with 4 different championships on the line. Kongo has been inactive since January 2023, although Marku has only fought 1 round since that date too. Kongo previously held the WBO Global title until a loss against Michael McKinson.

Marku vs Kongo is set for the Welterweight division, and may appear on Boxxer’s yet to be announced Birmingham show. The bout could also be added to Buatsi vs Azeez, or featured on a card at a later date.
