Campbell Hatton set for First Championship bout on Smith vs Zepeda card

Matchroom Boxing announced 4 additional shows for their 2024 schedule, including Campbell Hatton’s next opponent.

The unbeaten British Lightweight has been a staple part of Matchroom Boxing’s Before the Bell, racking up 14 consecutive wins. Some fans have criticised Hatton for failing to step up his level of opposition, however Campbell Hatton appears to be making positive moves with his next contest.

Campbell Hatton vs James Flint is set for the Central Area Super Lightweight title. The bout appears on the Smith vs Zepeda undercard in Sheffield. Doncaster’s James Flint (13-1-2) is coming off a Draw to Adam Sircar in the only defence of his title at Magna, Rotherham. Flint’s only defeat came at Welterweight when he challenged for the Central Area Welterweight title and lost on points.

The Central Area title may not be the most prestigious, lacking behind the Commonwealth, English and British titles, but it represents a step up the ladder. Campbell Hatton, the son of British legend Ricky Hatton, lacks any real amateur pedigree and has been placed in straightforward contests since his debut in 2021. This will be the biggest test of his career, and one he will be expected to come through.
