On Saturday 02 March 2024, MVP promotions returns with Amanda Serrano vs Nina Meinke, featuring Jake Paul vs Ryan Bourland on the undercard.
Serrano vs Meinke
Amanda Serrano (46-2-1) will be boxing 12×3 minute rounds defending her Unified Featherweight World championships. Serrano was active in 2023 defending her titles on three occasions, although her decision to switch to 12×3 minute rounds forced her to vacate her WBC title. She continues to hold 4 championships. Amanda Serrano also competes in her native Puerto Rico for the first time since 2021.
Her opponent is German Nina Meinke (18-3), last defeated by Sarah Mahfoud in 2022. Meinke is fighting outside of Europe for the first time in her career.
Paul vs Bourland
Jake Paul will face Ryan Bourland as the Chief Support to Amanda Serrano. Paul easily defeated Andre August via KO in his last contest, which was his first victory against a recognised boxer. His bout against Andre August marked a change in approach as Paul selected a less ‘box-office’ opponent in favour of facing more traditional boxing opposition. Paul is continuing that approach against Bourland, which he hopes will lead him to becoming an eventual Cruiserweight world champion.
Ryan Bourland (17-2) is a natural Cruiserweight, although he has competed just once since 2019, scoring a TKO victory. Bourland has also been inactive for close to 18 months, last competing in 2022. Jake Paul’s next opponent had been rumoured to be retired British light heavyweight Rocky Fielding, but Ryan Bourland was selected instead.
The main card includes a second World championship contest. Jonathan Gonzalez vs Rene Santiago will contest the WBO Junior Flyweight World title on the Amanda Serrano undercard. Krystal Rosado vs Gloria Munguilla contest 4×3 minute rounds. Wanna Walton vs Joshua Torres also features on the MVP card.
