There comes a time in every elite athlete’s career when their athletic peak and commercial marketability converge at maximum velocity. For Aryna Sabalenka, that moment has unequivocally arrived.
At 28 years old, the Belarusian tennis star stands firmly at the height of her powers. As one of the most recognizable, dynamic, and charismatic personalities on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour, her ferocious, high-intensity playing style has cemented her status as a titan of the modern women’s game.
The 2025 season served as a testament to her athletic dominance. Sabalenka captured her second US Open title and the fourth Grand Slam crown of her illustrious career. Along the way, she reached two additional major finals, a stellar run of consistency that culminated in her being named the WTA’s Player of the Year and securing the year-end number one ranking for the second consecutive season. Now boasting 24 singles titles and more than US$53 million in career prize money, Sabalenka is rapidly establishing herself as an equally formidable force away from the court.
Building Brand Sabalenka
Sabalenka’s ascent to the top tier of commercial appeal is historic. She is only the third tennis player to top SportsPro’s annual list of the world’s 50 Most Marketable Athletes, powered by NorthStar. In claiming the prestigious top spot, she follows in the footsteps of Naomi Osaka, who led the rankings in 2019, and 2015 number one Genie Bouchard. Furthermore, she is just the fourth woman to ever achieve the accolade, joining gymnastics icon Simone Biles, who took the top spot in both 2021 and 2024.
Financial estimates from Forbes underscore her staggering commercial growth. Sabalenka raked in approximately US$30 million in 2025 alone, with her earnings split evenly between on-court tournament winnings and off-court commercial ventures. Notably, her endorsement income doubled from the previous year, catapulting her into position as the second-highest-earning female athlete in the world.
A significant catalyst behind this financial and brand transformation is Evolve, the boutique talent management agency founded in 2022 by Osaka and her longtime agent, Stuart Duguid. Sabalenka joined the agency’s roster in early 2025 after parting ways with IMG Tennis—a move that was later mirrored by Osaka going in the opposite direction, leaving Sabalenka as Evolve’s undisputed flagship client.
At the time of her departure from IMG, media reports indicated that Sabalenka felt growing personal frustration over a perceived lack of aggressive endorsement acquisition. Additionally, the broader geopolitical climate, characterized by the Belarusian government’s support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, had created an environment where corporate brands were initially hesitant to forge partnerships due to her nationality.
Despite these hurdles, the transition to Evolve granted Sabalenka unprecedented autonomy over her off-court portfolio, allowing her to aggressively pursue her passions in fashion, high-end modeling, and entertainment.
"I was looking to build my brand," Sabalenka told reporters shortly after finalizing the agency switch. "I wanted a little bit more than IMG was doing for me. I wasn’t happy with the service."
Under the guidance of Evolve, that brand development has accelerated dramatically. According to Duguid, the strategy began with a targeted pilot partnership. An initial deal was struck with Electrolit, a rapidly expanding sports drink brand in the United States, designed specifically to test the market appetite for Sabalenka’s commercial persona.
"When we started working with Aryna two years ago, it was clear to us that her commercial profile didn’t reflect who she was: a world number one with a huge social following and real global fame," Duguid explains. "She has a personality that connects with people far beyond tennis, and we saw a huge white space. We started with authentic partners like Electrolit to build proof of concept in North America, and on the back of that momentum, the calibre of brand just kept getting better and better."
The momentum proved unstoppable. In January, Emirates Airline appointed Sabalenka as its first-ever tennis ambassador, integrating her into a roster of global campaigns. She subsequently secured major ambassadorial roles with luxury powerhouse Gucci and beverage giant Stella Artois. Her expanding portfolio also includes prominent product campaigns for Beats by Dre and Shark Ninja, highlighted by high-profile promotional activations across New York City during the US Open.
According to Duguid, these collaborations are textbook examples of the precise brand alignment mapped out for Sabalenka from day one. Today, her commercial footprint spans a diverse array of sectors, seamlessly bridging sporting goods, luxury fashion, travel, wellness, and consumer beverages.
Transcending the Sport
Away from the baseline, Sabalenka is successfully transcending the boundaries of professional tennis. She appears just as comfortable gracing the covers of mainstream cultural publications like Time, Vogue, and Esquire as she is walking fashion runways, attending red-carpet galas, and appearing on late-night television talk shows. Lucrative exhibition matches and special appearances have also added to her burgeoning schedule.

In December, she participated in a heavily publicized "Battle of the Sexes" exhibition match against Evolve stablemate Nick Kyrgios. While the unconventional contest generated polarized reactions within the sports world, her participation underscored her readiness to serve as a central protagonist in the broader promotion of tennis. For Sabalenka, dividing opinion rarely poses a problem; her straight-talking, unapologetic demeanor consistently commands box-office attention.
In candid interviews with prominent media outlets, Sabalenka has frequently spoken about possessing a distinct dual personality. On the court, she is a fierce, pugnacious, and intensely combative competitor; off the court, she transforms into an easy-going, bubbly, and lighthearted character.
This duality is mirrored directly in her social media presence. For every fiery exchange with an official on the court, there is a self-deprecating TikTok dance video that showcases her playful side, proving that her joyful off-court demeanor coexists naturally with her hyper-competitive drive.
As she recently articulated to Forbes: "What you see is what you get. I try to be honest, to do the right things, to represent myself in a way that feels real. For me, it’s about being authentic, showing my personality, my emotions, my energy and letting people connect with that. That’s Aryna."
Boasting 5.8 million followers on Instagram and another 1.8 million on TikTok, Sabalenka has cultivated a massive, highly engaged digital community. Beyond traditional social media snapshots, she is actively expanding her own independent media ecosystem. This includes a YouTube docuseries titled Aryna’s Arena, produced in collaboration with Osaka’s production company, Hana Kuma, designed to forge a deeper, more intimate connection with her global fanbase.
"Her YouTube channel is a passion project that’s grown organically," Duguid notes. "Aryna wanted to fill the gap between long-form documentary content like Netflix’s Break Point and the snapshots of her life on Instagram and TikTok. There was nothing in between that was made her way, in her own voice."
The channel is reportedly evolving into a more expansive production partnership with Google-owned platforms. While Duguid describes the initiative as an ongoing work in progress, it represents a vital future revenue stream and a mechanism for strengthening direct-to-consumer relationships.
"YouTube is a much harder platform to crack, and we’re relishing that challenge, because the upside is unlimited," he adds. "More than anything, it means Aryna owns her story, her audience and her IP; and that’s incredibly valuable, both for her and for the brands that want to be part of it."
What the 50MM Data Says
In the release of SportsPro’s annual 50 Most Marketable Athletes list, powered by NorthStar, Sabalenka stands out as the singular athlete whose overall Marketability Score surpasses the 80-point threshold out of 100. Furthermore, her performance is exceptionally well-rounded across all three core components of the evaluation model.
"She is established, still accelerating and still has room to grow," observes Chris Collins, founder, chief executive, and president of NorthStar Solutions Group. "That combination is rare, and it is exactly what partners are looking for."
NorthStar’s Athlete Persona Model classifies Sabalenka as a "Global Headliner." This designation indicates that the scale, geographic reach, and institutional amplification of her audience extend far across international borders. Competing at the highest level of a truly global, globe-trotting sport gives her a uniquely broad addressable market. Yet, despite her already mature personal profile, analytical data indicates substantial headroom for further commercial expansion.
Within the pool of 247 elite athletes comprehensively assessed by NorthStar, Sabalenka ranks comfortably inside the top 25 for both brand equity and market momentum. Her highest-scoring momentum driver is "recently detected relationships," where she surges to fifth overall, directly reflecting her wave of new endorsement acquisitions.
Crucially, she also registers high marks for "monetization headroom." This metric demonstrates that her current commercial returns actually lag slightly behind her massive overall brand profile. In simpler terms, Sabalenka remains relatively underexploited from a business perspective, possessing the capacity to command even greater financial returns from future brand partnerships.
Looking forward, Duguid emphasizes that the immediate strategy focuses on maintaining and scaling cash-based brand partnerships while Sabalenka continues to dominate at her competitive peak. While equity investments and ownership stakes will likely enter the equation as she begins planning for life after tennis, the current mandate for Evolve remains straightforward: executing at the highest level of professional sports marketing.
