Ivan Gnizditskiy has secured an Ultimate Fighting Championship contract despite missing his scheduled appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Ivan Gnizditskiy signs UFC deal after visa issues derail Contender Series appearance

The unbeaten Russian light heavyweight’s manager, Ali Askarov of Crown Sports Management, confirmed the signing to MMA Junkie. Gnizditskiy (7-0) is expected to make his promotional debut in December, bringing an unblemished professional record and a reputation for high-octane finishes into the world’s premier mixed martial arts organization.

Gnizditskiy was originally scheduled to face Nell Ariano (6-1) on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10, a platform renowned for offering prospects a direct pathway to a coveted UFC roster spot. However, administrative hurdles intervened. The 30-year-old was forced to withdraw from the bout because of persistent visa issues that prevented him from traveling to the venue in time for the scheduled card. Despite the setback, which typically threatens a fighter’s momentum and immediate career trajectory, the cancellation ultimately did not impede his ascent. Matchmakers and UFC executives recognized his potential, leading to a direct multi-fight agreement rather than a mandatory appearance on the developmental series.

The acquisition of Gnizditskiy adds another formidable contender to the talent-rich light heavyweight division. Boasting a flawless 7-0 professional record, the 30-year-old fighter has built a reputation as a relentless finisher who rarely lets the judges decide his fate. In fact, Gnizditskiy has finished all seven of his professional victories inside the distance, showcasing a devastating blend of striking power and grappling acumen. Of his seven wins, six have come by way of knockout or technical knockout, demonstrating heavy hands and clinical striking precision. The remaining victory was secured via submission, proving that he also possesses a well-rounded ground game capable of punishing opponents who attempt to take the fight to the canvas.

Prior to inking his new deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Gnizditskiy gained valuable international experience competing under various promotional banners. In 2025, he made notable waves by competing twice in One Championship, showcasing his skills on a major global stage against tough, international competition. Following his stint in Asia, he continued his winning ways by stopping Tursunbek Sodikov in his most recent bout, which took place in March. That dominant performance served as the final showcase of his capabilities outside the UFC, cementing his status as one of the most dangerous unranked prospects in the sport.

With his travel and visa hurdles now firmly in the rearview mirror, Gnizditskiy and his management team at Crown Sports Management are turning their full attention toward his imminent arrival on mixed martial arts’ biggest stage. While an official opponent and exact date for his promotional debut in December have not yet been formally announced by the promotion, the timeline allows the Russian light heavyweight ample opportunity to complete a full training camp and adjust to the rigors of preparing for a UFC-level bout. As he prepares to step into the Octagon for the first time, the undefeated prospect will look to prove that missing his Contender Series showcase was merely a detour on a direct route to the upper echelons of the 205-pound weight class.
