The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has officially expanded its upcoming international fight card in the United Arab Emirates, adding a compelling welterweight matchup between surging prospects Khamzat Abaev and Leon Hill to the lineup. The high-stakes 170-pound encounter is scheduled to take place on November 14 at the state-of-the-art Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, serving as a key fixture on an event designed to showcase elite global talent to the Middle Eastern MMA fanbase.
This newly announced welterweight pairing brings together two dangerous competitors at contrasting yet equally pivotal moments in their respective professional careers. Both men are eager to make a definitive statement on a major global stage, adding further depth and intrigue to an already star-studded fight card that promises high-level action from top to bottom.
Khamzat Abaev Returns After Knockout Win as Leon Hill Brings Four-Fight Streak to PFL Dubai
Khamzat Abaev enters this November showdown looking to build crucial momentum following a stellar performance earlier this year. Holding a professional record of 6-1, Abaev makes his triumphant return to the PFL cage after securing an impressive knockout victory over Luca Poclit at PFL Brussels in May. In that outing, Abaev showcased his devastating finishing ability by stopping Poclit at the 2:56 mark of the opening round, a decisive performance that allowed him to bounce back emphatically from the lone blemish of his professional career. That setback had come a year prior in July 2025, when he dropped a decision loss to Chequina Noso Pedro. The resilient welterweight has since put that disappointment firmly in the rearview mirror, using the momentum from his Brussels finish to secure another significant opportunity under the PFL banner in Dubai.
Across the cage, Leon Hill steps into enemy territory riding a wave of undeniable confidence. The Irish welterweight brings a stellar four-fight winning streak into the PFL Dubai matchup, establishing himself as one of the most formidable European talents in the division. Hill most recently competed under the prestigious Cage Warriors banner in February, where he delivered a dominant stoppage victory over Aldo Pereira. That win further solidified his reputation as a ruthless finisher and an elite contender on the regional circuit. Hill’s path to this milestone PFL opportunity has been carefully forged through consistent high-level performances, with his last career defeat coming against Ieuan Davies back in October 2023. Since that setback, Hill has methodically cleared out the opposition in front of him, adapting his style and sharpening his skills to prepare for the biggest platform of his career.
The addition of Abaev versus Hill bolsters an event that is already anchored by championship-level stakes. The PFL Dubai card will be officially headlined by a massive heavyweight title bout between reigning champion Vadim Nemkov and top-tier contender Sergey Bilostenniy, a matchup boasting world-class grappling, striking, and championship implications that will capture the attention of the entire combat sports community.
The promotion officially confirmed the welterweight addition through social media channels, highlighting the explosive potential of the contest. In a statement released on platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the organization stated: "Abaev returns to the cage after his impressive first-round knockout win as he takes on Ireland’s own Leon Hill in a Welterweight bout set to bring fireworks! It goes down Saturday, November 14th LIVE from the Coca Cola Arena!"
As the calendar ticks closer to fight night, the collision between Abaev’s explosive striking and Hill’s relentless momentum presents a fascinating tactical puzzle for fight fans and analysts alike. With both men eager to climb the PFL welterweight ranks and stake their claim for future divisional supremacy, the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai is set to host an unforgettable battle when the two rising stars lock horns on November 14.
