Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia Start Time and Undercard

Matchroom Boxing return to America with a PPV as they present Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia live on DAZN. The fight is set for Las Vegas with Haney’s WBC Super Lightweight title at stake. Ryan Garcia enters his first world championship bout.

Devin Haney will be defending his newly won WBC Super Lightweight title against Ryan Garcia. Both Haney and Garcia have had a number of social media exchanges.

Haney vs Garcia appeared to be on several weeks ago, until Ryan Garcia appeared to make a U-turn and set his sights elsewhere. Garcia called out WBA Super Lightweight champion Rolly Romero. Rolly Romero opted against pursuing a bout against Garcia, and he instead chose to face Isaac Cruz.

Once Romero vs Garcia was dead and buried, rumours of Haney vs Garcia appeared quickly. There is little in the way of alternative PPV opponents for either fighter, and the DAZN affiliation between Haney’s promoter Matchroom and Garcia’s promoter Golden Boy will have made negotiations a little easier.

Both ‘The Dream’ and ‘King Ry’ met in a face to face encounter shortly after the bout was announced.

Ryan Garcia has continued to exhibit worrying behaviour in the build-up to the fight. Garcia has posted and deleted numerous messages on X where he made a series of troubling claims. His promoter Oscar De La Hoya has spoken to the media since and confirmed the fight remains on.

Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KO’s) is the reigning WBC Super Lightweight champion and former Unified Lightweight champion. ‘The Dream’ holds an unblemished record since turning professional in 2015.

Haney captured his first world title in 2019 when he defeated Alfredo Santiago. Haney defended his championships a final time at Lightweight against Vasyl Lomachenko, picking up a narrow victory.

Devin Haney moved up in weight to challenge Regis Prograis last December, winning 13-0 on every judges scorecard and dethroning the champion.

Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KO’s) has been competing professionally since 2016. He has never challenged for a World championship, but previously held the WBC Interim World Lightweight title after he beat Luke Campbell in 2021.

Garcia has notable victories over Luke Campbell via TKO, Emmanuel Tagoe via UD, Javier Fortuna via KO and Oscar Duarte via KO.
