Caroline Dubois vs Rhiannon Dixon ordered for IBF World Title

The IBF have announced that their current Lightweight World champion Katie Taylor is vacating her titles, with Caroline Dubois vs Rhiannon Dixon ordered to decide a new champion.

Katie Taylor last defended her IBF Lightweight World title against Karen Carabajal in October 2022, and has since competed at the Super Lightweight weight division. Taylor remains the Undisputed Super Lightweight world champion and is expected to rematch Chantelle Cameron in 2024.

With the Lightweight World title lacking a champion, the IBF have ordered Caroline Dubois vs Rhiannon Dixon for the vacant championship.

Rhiannon Dixon vs Katarina Thanderz

Caroline Dubois (8-0) is the current holder of the IBO World Lightweight title, having defeated Magali Rodriguez in September 2023.

Rhiannon Dixon (9-0) picked up the EBU European Lightweight title in her last contest when she defeated Katharina Thanderz, winning every round in the process.

Caroline Dubois vs Magali Rodriguez

Dubois would enter the contest as a favourite, having a clear power advantage over Dixon. Dubois has 5 TKO’s already in her career compared to Dixon’s 1. Dubois also has a wealth of amateur experience in her favour. Dixon is six years older than Dubois but doesn’t have the same amateur background, although she is trained by former World Champion William Crolla.

If a deal cannot be struck between the camps of Dubois and Dixon, the bout will go down to purse bids. Dubois is represented by Boxxer which air shows on Sky Sports in the UK and Peacock in the USA, whereas Dixon appears for Matchroom Boxing and their shows air on DAZN.

Previous efforts between Boxxer and Matchroom to make significant bouts have fallen flat, as Fabio Wardley vs Frazer Clarke failed to materialise last year, and Richard Riakporhe vs Jai Opetaia fell through despite both being ordered as mandatory title bouts. So although the bout has been ordered there it will actually happen.

Caroline Dubois is next scheduled to compete on the undercard of Joshua Buatsi vs Dan Azeez, against opposition TBA. Rhiannon Dixon has no scheduled fight date.
